Jumla RARA ,Nepal’s Wild West –Api Himal reconnaissance Trek Max. Alt 5300m

A trekking adventure close to Nepal’s frontier with Tibet and India
In the extreme north western corner of Nepal, close to the border with both Tibet and India, is a mountain group called the Byas Rihi Himal, which includes a peak called Api, the most westerly 7000 metre peak of the Nepal Himalayan. After many years of running treks in the west of Nepal, to Dolpo and to Humla, we have decided that it is high time that we explored this even more far-flung region. Flying in to the airstrip at Bhajang, we plan to trek north beside the Seti Khola for ten Days , to the Urailangna, La pass 5300 metre-high pass on the  Tibetan border which will we hope, offer views of Kailas and Gurla Mandate to the north. Retracing our route for two days, we will climb up to an unnamed pass on the Bankhia lekh, to the south of a peak called Bobaye, on the West Side of the Seti Valley. Crossing this ridge, and heading south on a high ridge trail, we will have spectacular views beyond the border, to the Indian peaks, Nanda Devi and Trisuli. It must be stressed that this is very much a reconnaissance trip-into an area that is not yet on the trekking map.
