MT MAKALU AND BARUN NATIONAL PARK AND CONSERVATION AREA TREKKING NEPAL

Over 425 species of birds have been sighted in the Makalu-Barun area including two species never before seen in Nepal. The spotted wren babbled and the olive ground warbler. A very interesting cave Tongda Phuk exists in the southwest of Mt. Makalu. According to legends one thousand Tibetan’s took shelter in this cave. Was the source of the Name’’ Tonda Phuk ‘’ which in the Tibetan languages means” the cave of one 1000’’! Some of Sherpa people are settled inside the park while mixed ethnic groups are found along the park boundaries. But despite the settlements here, the park still possesses vital resources of flora and fauna. One should not miss exploring this Himalayan Jungle.
