Climbing in Tilma's footsteps
Despite the fact that the Ganesh Himal is one the more accessible of Nepal's mountainous region, the area remain completely unspoiled, offering peaceful trekking conditions in a most spectacular setting. When Bill Tilman's visited this area, some 45 years ago, he made an ascent of the first
significant summit of the ever climbed in Nepal- the shapely peak of
poldor {5928m}. lying to the south of the clustered summits of the main Ganesh group, paldor is a splendid trekking peak, involving a long and challenging ridge-climb. From its summit there are views of Shishapangma, Manslu and the
Annapurna's, as well as the peak of the Rolwaling Valley, including Menlungtse and Gauri shankar. Our long walk in to
Paldor, including 6 days on the airy Thare Danda (ridge, allows the group plenty of time to acclimates and to home their fitness prior to the climb. After the climb, our route follows the sinuous ridge of the Tiru Danda for 5 days of absolutely magical trekking to Trisuli Bazaar. A very special trek and a sample of the very beast ridge waking that Nepal can offer.
