THE RARA NATIONAL PARK TREKKING 2002 NEPAL 

It is located in the Northwest mountain region of Nepal. It is approximately 372 kilometers air distance from Kathmandu, Nepal. Most of the park lies in the Mugu District of the Karnali Zone and holy lake Rara, Nepal largest body of water at 12.9 square kilometre’s. it is extremely unusual to find such a large lake at Rara’s elevation of 2,995m. (9670ft.). Snow trout is the only fish species found in the lake. Features park altitude range from 1,800m to 4048m. The vegetation is mainly coniferous forest. The area around the lake is dominated by blue pine, black Juniper, west Himalayan spruce, oak, Himalayan cypress and other species. At about 3360m. Pine and spruce give way to fir, oak and birch. Deciduous trees like Indian horse chestnut, walnut and Himalayan poplar are also found. A small portion of the park serves as a ideal habitat for musk deer. Other animals found in the national park include Himalayan black bear, snow leopard, ghoral, Himalayan tahrad wild boar, National bird Danhpe and Monal etc. the great-crested grebe, black-necked grebe, and red-crested pochard are seen here during the winter. Other common birds such as the snow-cock, choker partridge, Impeyan pheasant, kalij pheasant and blood pheasant are permanent residents here in the Rara National park. However, these birds move to lower elevation in the winter. and when is the start to summer they will be climb up Rara National Park area and they will dance to morning evening sunsets time. This region has recently been opened to foreign visitors. a special permit and a Nepalese Government liaison officer are required to trekking some of the areas.
