The Khumbu region has been one of the most popular destinations for trekkers and climber since the first expeditions of Nepal in the 1950,s Home to the famously cheerful Sherpa people, this area boasts some of the most fantastic high mountain scenery on earth, including views of several
of the world's greatest peaks, amongst them-mount Everest. Our exciting itinerary aims to show off the Everest National park to its best advantage. After flying to Lukla and trekking to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar, we head up to the sacred lakes in the Gokyo Valley, and trek to the
summit of Gokyo
Ri, which offers a fine perspective of Mount Everest. Crossing into the Khumbu Valley by way of the high and challenging Cho La, we trek up to
Kalapathar, which affords more stunning views of Everest and of the astonishing Khumbu Icefall. We also visit Everest
Base camp, before walking out via pangboche and the recently restored monastery at
Thengboche. This circuit, including the trek to 2 of the best viewpoints for Everest, provides a taste of the Khumbu that is hard to beat within a 3 week Holliday.
